This beautifully hand carved sandstone figure represents Anubis, the ancient Egyptian guardian of the dead and guide of souls through the afterlife. Depicted with the head of a jackal, Anubis was revered as a protector who watched over sacred transitions, ensuring safe passage between worlds. In Egyptian mythology he is also associated with the weighing of the heart ceremony, where the soul was measured against the feather of Ma’at to determine its fate.
